FAQ

  • What is VWV?
VWV is a global brand experience agency, based in Joburg, which specialises in creating immersive brand experiences, live events, and marketing campaigns to engage audiences and drive brand awareness. Our core strength is our ability to combine solid strategic thinking with world-class creative.
  • Do I have to pay?
No there is no charge to attend the course and learn from exceptional female facilitators and mentors, all of whom give of their time and talent for no payment. However, we expect you to grab this incredible opportunity with excitement and gratitude by showing up and participating in positive and meaningful ways.
  • What can I do to be accepted for the course?
If you have a mindset of ambition, continuous learning, and openness to new ideas as well as a hunger for knowledge and a drive to excel, we’re looking for you! Cultivating a learning mindset involves embracing challenges as opportunities for growth, being receptive to feedback, and persistently pursuing improvement. Being open to new ideas entails a willingness to explore different perspectives, engage in constructive dialogue, and adapt to changing circumstances. We expect you to take the course seriously, recognising the importance of the opportunity at hand.
  • Can I sign up for the course if I'm not in my final year?
No, unfortunately you can't. The programme is specifically designed as a bridging course between academic study and entering the workforce, so enrolling prematurely would not serve the right purpose. Much as we love your enthusiasm, it's essential to wait until you are in your final year in order to fully capitalise on the opportunities provided by the programme.
  • Is the course accredited?
Course material has been crafted in collaboration with lectures from IIE-Vega. The certificate you receive at graduation will hold significant value in the eyes of potential employers as it serves as a testament to your dedication, expertise, and commitment to professional development. Having this credential on your CV will also enhance your credibility and competitiveness in the job market.
  • Where do the weekly modules unfold?
While most modules unfold at VWV's offices in Kyalami, a few may take place elsewhere depending on the content. Girls will be picked up from and dropped back at the three participating institutions after each module.
  • How does the mentor-student relationship work?
Each student is paired with a female mentor at the beginning of the course. The mentor is an experienced professional who provides guidance, support, and encouragement to the student. Mentors and students typically meet regularly, in person, to discuss progress, address challenges, and set goals. The mentor-student relationship is built on trust, mutual respect and a commitment to the student's personal and professional development.
  • Will I get an internship after attending the course?
While there is no guarantee of securing an internship after attending the course, some students have been offered internships by their mentors in the past. The Phakama Women's Academy provides valuable networking opportunities that may increase the likelihood of internship offers, but individual outcomes will depend on things like performance, fit, and availability of internships at the time.
